good girls write diaries, bad girls don't have time.

haha.

I dunno what to write though.

I really need a second job. I redyed my hair with mostly the same color scheme, but a different shade of green (because the other green did NOT want to stay in my hair).

it's astounding how well that picture turned out. go figure.

last Wednesday was AWFUL. I had some kind of 24 hour (or maybe 12 hour) stomach flu...around four o'clock, I randomly started feeling nauseous. I tried to suck it up and go to work at six anyways, but I kept dry heaving so after like fifteen minutes at work I ended up going home. Literally got home, ran in the door to the bathroom, and started hurling. I puked like...six times? between 6:30 and 10 or so. I was pretty freaked out and felt like crap. Ended up sleeping 'til three the next day. (because THAT, my friends, is how I solve problems)

I don't really like college.
blah.
and I've kind of been thinking, you know, everyone keeps asking me where I got my hair done at...I just did a girl's (Carly, I met her in my Intro to Religion class, really nice girl) hair tonight actually, it turned out AMAZING, if I do say so myself. I dunno. I think working with hair and getting paid for it would be pretty freakin' awesome.

dunno what I'm doing tomorrow or this weekend...I only work one four hour shift this week(re: Mishee needs a second job), and it's on Saturday, I'm probably heading back to Joplin to hang with my friends for Saturday night and going to say hi to my family on Sunday.

Uhhh yeah. See. That's really all I can think of.

before I forget, new hair:

the part where it's light pink in the photos is now a magenta/hot pink type color. my favorite reaction so far? when I stopped at the BIGALA table (on Sunday at the fair/expo thing) to say hi to a friend and the guy behind the table goes "I just LOVE your hair. All the colors are so bright. And the orange eyeshadow sets it off PERFECTLY....and I totally realize that is the gayest thing I've said all day."

haha.

aside from that, after two days of college and experiencing all my classes....

it's not as bad as I thought it would be, but not as good as everyone else made it out to be. at least, so far.

I didn't meet anyone yesterday and I was just kind of blah on the whole thing. IDS is going to be a boring class that I just need to get out of the way, but at least the dude teaching it is nice. Intro to Religion is going to be interesting, and the CTM class will be all right. the teacher is this very sweet old lady. and some of the girls are nice, some seem a little standoffish/snobby.

today was much better. I went and got a parking permit, and then headed to Intro to Psych. Somehow, I totally missed the building, so I stood off to the side of the sidewalk, digging in my bag (which btw, messenger bag? BAD IDEA. ow, my poor poor shoulder) trying to find a map, and I hear someone go "hey, you should go to the punk show on Friday!" I turn around and there's a dude with a Reel Big Fish shirt handing me a mini-flyer, I glanced at it after I took it and was like "yeah, I already am, but uh, can you tell me where Hall is at?" so he gave me directions and I thanked him and ran off that way. Psych is a pretty big class, but I think it should be interesting. So long as the prof doesn't already hate me, my phone went off in class (Jessica, even though I just got off the phone with her like an hour before that because I HAD TO GO TO CLASS...sigh). And when I went to talk to her right after class (somehow, I ended up with the eighth edition of the textbook, instead of the seventh, go figure) the first thing she said was "Nice hair...and you are?". Hopefully that wasn't in a sarcastic way. heh.

After Psych was another Fashion class, except this one isn't a lab, it's an industry/etc. type class. looks interesting, and there's a nice girl in there named Heather I started talking to. she might be switching out of it though since she switched to an anthropology major over the summer. I hope not because I don't exactly fit in in my fashion classes, hahaha.

theeeen that class got out early, so I went and got some pizza because I was STARVING. Then I went to 2-d Design. It looks...bleh, not exactly fascinating but not too bad. the teacher seems nice.

although, I'm kind of annoyed, because between that class and my fashion sewing class, I'll probably have to spend $100 on supplies. And I just got done doing the "yay no more education-money spending for me! I'm relatively financially stable now!"

HAHAHA NO.

Anyways, I get out of Art and walk outside, and run into the guy from earlier, except he has a friend with him. We stopped and talked for a while, and this chick walked by with a Flogging Molly shirt on, so they're like "hey! you should come to this! and bring your friends!" "well, I might come, but I don't have any friends." me: "well now we're your friends!" Megan (for that was the girl's name): "yay! I keep trying to be friendly to people, I'm like, 'hi my name is Megan, what's your major?' and they aren't being very friendly back...it makes me sad" me: "yeah, well, at least you can DO that to people, if I did that to people they'd run the other direction!"

haha. and then Alicia walks up and is like "Hey! I know her!". small world, eh?

yesterday was mostly uneventful, lots of working at HT, and then today was also boring. oh well what can ya do? I feel kinda crappy and I'm not sure why, but my throat is killing me! blah. no classes 'til Monday though :D

yes, I know, shocking! a post!

I'm not sure why it's been so long, I know at least part of it is because a while ago our modem stopped working for a week and I was using my laptop, which didn't have my password on it for blogger (since I am a dork, and mostly depend on my computer knowing the passwords to my accounts to get in to them).

Last Thursday and Friday was SOAR, my orientation for MSU...it was alright. I was expecting the worst after hearing Alicia's stories, and maybe it was just because she was with the socially-retarded honors students (haha, just kidding!) or something, but I met quite a few people. I got the myspace of a few. My schedule...I'm not sure if I'm going to mess with it or not. On Monday, I'm in class from like, one to eight, Tuesday and Thursday, 2-8 or thereabouts, and Wednesday from like...1-4 or something. I have Fridays off (which is definitely something I want to keep). My schedule doesn't leave a whole lotta room open for a job, but it (my schedule, that is) would kind of suck anyways because I have to take a class from 4-8 for my major on Monday, and Tuesday and Thursday had the only Art 100 class left...so at least they're all lumped together instead of spread out throughout the day. I might see if I can scooch the Wednesday classes up some to make them earlier and have more of the afternoon free for work. I got a tip from someone about a coffee-house that wouldn't have a problem with blue hair (oh yes, more on the hair later), and another shop or two I can apply at. I'll probably call Heath later for more ideas, even if I'm getting reaaaaally sick of filling out applications...

I had a damn good weekend. Alex made an impromptu trip up here, getting here Thursday night and going home Monday morning. It was a lot of fun - Friday, they(being Alicia, Levi, and Alex) met me in Springfield after my orientation got over, and we ran around. Also got pizza that really, really sucked. It was probably just the style of pizza (St. Louis style?) but seriously...it was like cheese on crackers. ew. very thin brittle crust and hardly any sauce or cheese. Anyways...after the pizza, Alicia and Levi headed home, and me and Alex dawdled around a bit, went into this shop with hand-made incense and candles (and a very fluffy, very cute dog) and I got some stuff to smellify our apartment when we finally move in (on Sunday...ouch! *needs to start packing in a serious, serious fashion...as the madre keeps telling me). Speaking of which, I'm kind of pissed because our corner apartment that we were supposed to have was given to someone else. Even though we'd put a deposit on it. Why? probably because our move date was down a FULL TWO WEEKS later than we told her it would be (August 1st instead of July 15th). I don't know if our apartment lady (uhm...real estate agent?) is just a doofus or what, maybe it was just an honest mistake.

Anyways...Saturday we went to the creek with Jesse and Jerome, and it was a lot of fun. I didn't even get sunburned! (which is pretty amazing if I say so myself) and the drunken canoe-goers were HILARIOUS. Except that I kept being referred to as the 'girl with purple hair' by...floater-by, when it is very clearly blue. Sunday we just kind of hung out and I had my going away party at Journey's, which turned out to just be me, Amy, Stacy, and Heath watching Goonies and eating cake and popcorn. We stayed up late at the hotel watching movies (John Tucker Must Die and The Departed). JTMD was alright, funny but kind of dumb. although I wasn't really expecting intelligent comedy or anything. The Departed....oh my. SO LONG. It finally got over at almost three, and I was disappointed with the ending. Like, it was an okay movie, but I wouldn't have stayed up if I'd known everyone

(spoiler)

DIEEEEEED. Sheesh. And then Monday I had to get home early.

More on the hair: I dyed it...it was supposed to be streaked, it turned out to be most of the front half of my head. First it was a fuchsia color, then it faded to a hot pink...and then after my last day at Journey's I went to go do it blue, and tried to bleach it out...the pink didn't wanna bleach! It was still hot pink afterwards (although a lighter hot pink - it reminded me of pink lemonade with the bleach-blonde). I redyed it and I don't know if I just had bad luck with the dye (that I left on for THREE HOURS) or what, but it was a really REALLY light blue...it looked like cotton candy. Totally not what I wanted. I saw someone at the Cinna show who had dark blue hair and I asked her what she used (which turned out to be just this stuff called Splat from Walgreens) and used that...and voila, blue hair! (with purple on the side-bits) I think I'm going to finish using the bottle of dye to touch it up, and then redo it with a combination of Blue Mayhem (a bright neon blue, instead of a darker blue) and Fishbowl (a really bright turquoise). Of course, this assumes I'd have the money for that. *sigh* I'm getting it trimmed later today, finally. it's getting too long to spike up without looking like einstein.

Last night we went to go see HP at midnight...it was pretty cool. I wasn't actually that impressed with the movie itself - they left a LOT of stuff out, the visit with Neville's parents in the hospital(which would have made me cry like a baby), the interview with Rita and the Quibbler, and the double-way mirror with Sirius (I'm pretty sure they might have screwed themselves over on that one, because I think JKR either said or heavily implied that the mirror will be of some level of importance in book seven), quidditch - but it was a fun experience. I went with Coni, her boyfriend, Zach, and Zach's brother (who is OBNOXIOUS. I don't see how they can be related, because Zach is a nice guy and his brother is just like, an obnoxious twit). Spent roughly two hours in the movie theatre just SITTING. haha, and I saw Mr. Withers there!! I'm surprised he recognized me, honestly. I wish he had a blog or something to keep in touch with him with, he was one of my favorite teachers.

After the movie we went to Denny's, which was all good fun (and believe it or not, we saw a good three people we know, at 3:30 in the morning at Denny's...and we met this incredibly incredibly drunk dude who was a laugh riot). And then I came home, set my alarm to wake me up at noon...fell asleep and had weird restless dreams. I woke up and went to grab my cell phone to see what time it was, but it wasn't where I left it...I'm like "oh noooo, it's like one, and I'm going to be so late for my haircut! ack!"...yeah...it wasn't even 11 yet. whoops.

lala...thinking too much.

I feel better than I have been. It sounds so very stupid, but I've always believed that I would be so much happier...or maybe not happier, that's probably part of the point, but that I would rather be annoyed/angry and be doing or saying what's right; still having my opinions, than apathetic. And until really recently, it felt like no matter what I did I was slipping into apathy, into all of these habits that I hate so much in other people...where I would have, six months or a year ago, said "dude, you're being an idiot, and this is why your opinion makes no sense" I was just biting my tongue and thinking why bother. But then I wasn't, and hey, if I'm still being sarcastic to ignorant people, then life goes on.

I finished Invisible Monsters. and it's...I dunno, kind of the same as Fight Club. I like them, yeah. The way he writes though, it's a little...nihilistic? pretentious? kind of both. Especially since he's absolutely obsessed with the idea of self-destruction as a means of...not self-improvement, wrong word I guess. Reaching nirvana? They both have a philosophy like Buddhism on steroids.

"There isn't any real you in you," she says. "Even your physical body, all your cells will be replaced within eight years."
Skin, bones, blood, and organs transplant from person to person. Even what's inside you already, the colonies of microbes and bugs that eat your food for you, without them you'd die. Nothing of you is all-the-way yours. All of you is inherited.

And there are some parts of Fight Club that I agree with wholeheartedly, and some that I'm like "c'mon, gimme a break." He does have at least one definite good point in IM though:

...beauty is power the way money is power the way a loaded gun is power.

blah, blah, blah

And I just don't know what to do about next year. Because I don't know if living off campus would be too much all at once, but at the same time, I think if I had to deal with...living with some random stranger in a room twice the size of mine, with all these restrictions on where and when I can go, where and when people can come see me, no overnight leaving or visitors, no candles or incense or anything that could POSSIBLY be construed as a weapon, and I'm just...I don't know how many pointless rules I can take, after this 12 year stint of them. I'd probably just end up breaking them on accident or not, and get kicked out, big ol waste of money there. Plus, the way it's set up, I can't just be in for the fall semester and then switch out when I have enough credits, it's an all or nothing deal. Kind of stupid IMO. Also, pricy. It'd be cheaper to live off campus. Only issue there is that I'd have to be making that money at a job, it couldn't be covered by scholarships. On the other hand, if I'm *not* staying in the dorms, probably 100% of my tuition will be covered by scholarships, with some spill-over. So now the big deal is roommmate (only one person that comes to mind, and I don't want to be like "hey Alicia so you're moving in with me right", esp. when she hasn't made up her mind already, be all peer-pressurey, haha) or studio apartment. Studio apartment could be good, except I'd get lonely probably, and I don't think it'd be fair to a pet to get one, since I'd be gone quite a bit. Unless it was something relatively small, like a ferret, or self-sufficient, like a cat.

oh well, I'll think about it in the morning. Oh yeah, and note to self: check out the Byrd scholarship again, and see about getting forms for Bright Flight.
